I understand that teachers put in WAY more time than they are paid for->


my comment was more about doubting they would be paid extra if schools go to 12 months...Maybe they SHOULD be, but would they be? I expect you'd lose a lot of teachers who look at having summers ostensibly "off" as some compensation for low pay and working longer than the official 180 days per year...

In ANY event, going to 12 month school would be prohibitively expensive unless you subscribe to the current theory that money is like Lay's potato chips...'Eat (spend) all you want, we'll make (print) more".

You could essentially take 9 months and add 25% on top of it..All the costs would be extended into the summer, especially if you upped teacher pay to keep from losing every last one of them.

Still, this is getting HEAVY consideration in VA. The Governor is claiming it is for "this" year to help catch up, but we ALL know how that goes..Do it once, and it is common practice!
